Frequently Asked Questions

  • During our time together, we can meet in person, via video, or over the phone to discuss what has brought you to counselling, your goals, and any questions you may have about my approach or how I work. I will also explain what counselling with me involves, helping you gain a sense of comfort, connection, and clarity before deciding whether to move forward. There’s no pressure to commit—just a supportive conversation to help you make the choice that feels right for you.

  • A sliding scale allows you to pay a lower fee if you cannot afford the full rate. This system relies on trust—no income verification is required.

    • Full Fee ($160): For those who have financial stability, insurance, or savings.

    • Middle Fee ($130–159): For those with steady income but limited resources, some debt, and no insurance.

    • Lower Fee ($100–129): For those with limited access to essentials, living paycheque to paycheque, or facing significant debt without insurance.

Low-cost spots are limited, and choosing an appropriate rate helps keep this system equitable and sustainable for everyone.

  • Counselling is a unique experience that varies from person to person. Many people find it beneficial to start with regular sessions, such as weekly or biweekly, especially if they are addressing intense or significant issues. Once the initial phase has passed, it may be practical to reduce the frequency to monthly sessions. Some clients prefer to maintain regular sessions throughout the year to prevent issues from building up, scheduling appointments once a month or every six weeks. Ultimately, you are the expert on your own life, and I am here to support you by tailoring sessions to meet your needs.

  • You don’t have to limit yourself to just one type of session; you can choose any combination that fits your needs. Your decision can depend on your schedule, the weather, or your personal preferences. For example, if we have an in-person session scheduled but a snowstorm occurs, you can easily switch to a virtual or phone session from the comfort of your home.

Additionally, some people find themselves fatigued from staring at screens all day, making a phone session a refreshing alternative. This option also allows you to move your body while accessing counselling, making it a more accessible choice.

  • Neurodivergence-affirming practice recognizes your neurotype as a natural and valuable part of who you are. Together, we’ll explore your strengths, support any challenges you’re facing, and build approaches that work with your brain - not against it. This style of counselling celebrates neurodivergent identity and creates space for you to show up as your authentic self. If you’re looking for support that honours your lived experience, validates your differences, and helps you grow without trying to “fix” who you are, this approach may be a great fit.
